I wanted to create unique thank you cards for all our friends that joined a recent wedding shower. While browsing Pinterest, I remember seeing a few chalkboard easel card examples and decided I wanted to recreate this look for my thank you cards. I really hate when I can't remember what blog I saw ideas from to give proper credit. (if you know, please be sure to tell me in the comments so I can give credit where credit is due!)
Figuring out the "wood" pieces for the easel seemed like a challenge at first because I really wanted to have the look that the Hardwood background stamp would create but I do not own that stamp! Gosh, why can't I have every stamp in the catalog?!?!? So I decided to use the woodgrain embossing folder to give my pieces a wood finish. After several attempts at embossing with an inked up folder, I decided to just use plain embossed pieces. I do like how it turned out.
For the blackboard, I used basic black cardstock instead of the chalkboard paper. The chalkboard paper in the Occasions catalog is a lovely rich black with the texture of chalkboard, however is much thicker than regular cardstock so I decided to just go with the basic black.
The little banner across the top was so much fun to create! I have been on a banner kick lately and am enjoying creating them for all kinds of projects.
Below are pictures of the finished card:
Hope you like it! Thanks for popping by and Happy Stamping!
