Blended Bloom - Black and Gold Watercoloring

Watercoloring seems to be a hot trend in card making.  I was pretty intimidated at first to even try watercoloring but after watching many (ok lots) of YouTube videos, I decided to give it a try.  I ordered the supplies I felt I needed for watercoloring - watercolor paper, aqua painters, and some extra embossing powders.  I could not believe how EASY it was!  I might be slightly addicted to watercoloring now......

I stamped the Blended Bloom image in versa mark ink, then heat embossed in gold embossing powder.  Once the image was set and dry, that is when the fun started.  I used my aqua painter to add black and gold inks to the image.  I used my heat tool to push around the inked up water on the image to give those beautiful water marks I love so much on cards.

Here is a close up of the watercolored flower:

And here is the final card.  I am also loving the sequin trend as well as this adds perfect pops of bling to projects.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Stay tuned as I'll be posting another video hopefully this weekend.  The project we'll be making is a gable type box to hold a mini lotion bottle from Bath & Body Works.

3-D Christmas Stars using DSP and my FIRST video! :)

Well, I finally did it!  I decided to get into the trend of making videos.  At convention last week, we saw this really fun and easy project of making 3-D Christmas stars using designer series paper.  So when I got home I thought this would be the perfect project to try making my first video on.

So here it is......enjoy!  Be sure to like it on YouTube, subscribe to my YouTube channel, and follow my blog if you don't already do so.

If you have any questions or comments leave them below.  I am also open to any suggestions on how to improve my videos or requests for projects to film.

A Whole Lot of Lovely Hostess Set for Mojo Monday Challenge 408

So it's another tall and skinny card challenge over at Mojo Monday.  I always love these type of card challenges as it pushes me to make different size cards.  My card for today measures 3.5 x 5.5 and I just love how it turned out.

Do you see that gorgeous flowered paper?!?!  The new 6x6 paper pack called "Pretty Petals" is a must have from the new catalog.  It is full of the most amazing designs and colors.  Not sure you have matching cardstock to go with this paper?  No problem, Stampin Up has included coordinating cardstock paper packs for all of their DSP this year.  I was so very excited to see this much needed addition.

I used the hostess set "A Whole Lot of Lovely" for the circle focal point in the card.  This is another must have from the catalog as I am loving all the stamps that come in this set.

Do you ever wonder what to do with all that old DSP?  How about making a coordinating envelope for your cards.  I pulled out some retired Calypso Coral In Color DSP to make a matching envelope with the envelope punch board.  It gives this card a nice finishing touch and will light up someone's mailbox.

Be sure to check back in this week as I'll be uploading my first video!!  Whoa, what?!?!  I have decided to get with the times and start making videos.  My first video will feature a project that I saw at convention and a sneak peek at new DSP that will be available in the holiday catalog that comes out in September.

Mojo Monday Challenge 407 - Congrats on your new house

Wow, it's already Sunday and I almost missed my chance to upload my card for the Mojo Monday challenge 407.  My cousin and his soon to be wife just bought their first house.  I wanted to send a quick and easy card to say congratulations.  I made this card earlier in the week in a hurry as I was getting ready to leave for SU Convention!

I used some old DSP (can't remember the name) that had the perfect cute little houses on it and a coordinating DSP for the strip in the back.  I loved the bright and cheery colors in this paper.  I used the congrats sentiment from a host set from last year's catalog.  I stamped the "congrats" in Bermuda Bay and colored in the words with a Pumpkin Pie marker.  The stars were punched out using the star from the treat bag thinlit and the itty bitty accent punch pack.

I covered the stars in Crystal Effects to give them some shine and enamel appearance.

Stampin Up! Convention 2015

Well I made it Salt Lake City in one piece.  It has been a long day with getting up at 3am for my early morning flight and non-stop since I landed in Utah.  I got to take a campus tour which was a lot of fun to see where all the magic happens!  I even signed the whiteboard in the inspiration room!

I can't wait to see what the actual convention brings!  Prize patrol and the NEW OCCASIONS catalog!!  I am so excited.  I can't wait to get to swapping with my fellow demonstrators and see what everyone created.  I signed up for 2 swaps - card front occasions cards and 3x3 love note cards.  I am happy with how my swaps turned out and hope the other swappers like them too.

I am head over heels for the Greetings Thinlits and Watercolor Wings with the coordinating Bold Butterfly Framelits.  I have been using these on 80% of my projects lately.

Thanks for stopping by and keep coming back for more convention updates....

Color Washed Mood Board with new Bohemian DSP

I have been enjoying the mood board class with Catherine Pooler at Creativity Grows Here.  I recently joined Stamp Nation and have been getting tons of ideas and meeting some amazing people. You can never have enough places to go for inspiration and to meet fellow paper craft addicts.

My card today was inspired by the color washed mood board.  If you want to check out the mood board, join the class and see all the amazing videos and ideas.  You can join here.

I am LOVING the new Bohemian DSP from Stampin Up!  I did have to break out some retired supplies - the feather framelits and corresponding feather stamps.  I really can't seem to let those go, some of my all time favorites.

Do you see the beautiful lace ribbon??  This is the new dotted lace trim that comes in all the new in colors.  I am really enjoying getting familiar with the new colors and seeing the color combos you can make with them.

Hope you like my card.  Thanks for stopping by!
