Today's project is for a friend who turned 40 and that is a milestone that deserves something extra special. I decided to make one of those pop up box cards so she will get an extra surprise when opening the card. These cards look complicated but are actually quite easy to put together.
I debated over what objects to use inside the box - balloons, flowers, animals?!?! So many choices but decided on flowers. I like how it turned out and hope you do too.
I used a Crumb Cake base and layered with the English Garden DSP. This is honestly such a versatile package of paper with so many beautiful designs. For the flowers I used the Petite Petals stamp set and punch. I fussy cut the leaves from the stamp set Crazy About You after stamping them in Wild Wasabi on Whisper White cardstock.
The biggest challenge with these types of cards is always getting all he pieces to close inside and creating something to keep it closed. I find belly bands to work best and created one for this card using burlap ribbon with a strip of the same DSP found inside the card.
