Hot Air Balloon Card with sponged cloud background - Mojo Monday 416

Happy Hump Day!  I let my imagination run wild with the sketch over at Mojo Monday for this week.  For the 3 circles I decided to go for a hot air balloon and clouds.  My initial thoughts had me using a cloud designer series paper for the background however after digging through my supplies, I realized I didn't have the DSP I thought I did.  Time for an order!  haha!  So I decided to make my own DSP to use for the background by sponging and masking one of the punch shapes from the Tree Builder Punch.

Are you did she do that?!?!  Well don't worry, I'll be making a video of this technique this week to show you how you can make this card yourself.

I used the color combo of Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, and Whisper White with accents of silver glimmer paper.  These colors worked beautifully together and really helped make the background pop without taking away from the other elements in the card.

What do you think?  I love comments so feel free to leave me a comment below or ask me any questions.

Organizing and storing your photopolymer stamp set from Stampin Up!

I love to have an organized stamp space so that I can easily find the supplies I am looking for to make projects.  Clutter has a way of causing me stress when I don't even realize it so I was very excited to see this organizational tip for storing my photopolymer stamp sets.  I decided to make a quick video to share this great tip with all of you.

I hope this helps you get organized so that you can have a great space to create!

If you haven't done so already, subscribe to my YouTube channel and my blog so you don't miss out on any projects or tips.

Acorny Thank You and Thankful Forest Friends Mojo Monday Challenge 415

Happy Hump Day!  I was able to get some time at the craft table after a weekend of racing over 200 miles across the North Carolina mountains.  Every year I participate in a 9 person relay team that runs the Blue Ridge Relay race.  It is a fun but challenging weekend logging miles on no sleep and shuffling between exchange zones.  We had our fastest time this year so each year we get stronger.

I love playing along over at Mojo Monday Challenge and this week's card uses some of my favorite products from the Holiday catalog.  The Acorny Thank You and Thankful Forest Friends are probably my two favorite stamp sets from the seasonal catalog.  The coordinating Into the Woods DSP is some of the easiest designer series paper to work with.  I love every pattern and find that it is easy to use several patterns in the same project.

The acorn builder punch makes the cutest acorns to decorate any card or project.  All of these supplies are available now in the Holiday Catalog.  If you would like your own copy of this catalog and do not already have a demonstrator, please let me know and I'd be happy to send you one.

Hello baby!

My husband's niece just announced she is pregnant with her first child.  We are all very excited for her so I wanted to create a quick card to celebrate the good news.  I wanted to make a clean and simple design using some inlay die cutting.  I am learning to embrace white space on cards and refrain from continuing to add embellishments/color/stamping to cover up white space.

I intentionally left out some of the pieces of the die cut so that the word "hello" stood out more from the stamped image.  I really like this color combo - Tip Top Taupe, Hello Honey, and Wild Wasabi.

I love this stamp set and you can only get it by hosting a party and using your hostess dollars to purchase it.  We have some really fantastic host only stamp sets in the annual catalog this year.  I find myself using them all the time.

If you are interested in hosting a party (you can even do a virtual party) to earn this stamp set yourself, let me know and we'll get a date on the books!  I love sharing my passion for paper crafting with others and welcome to opportunity to introduce Stampin Up to you and your friends.

Inlay Die Cutting with the Butterfly Thinlits - Technique Video

Do you remember the project I made a couple weeks ago with the multi colored butterfly?  You can check out the post here, but below is a picture of the project.

I love the look inlay die cutting gives you but for intricate dies like this butterfly, it can be real tedious and time consuming to glue back in all those little pieces.  After watching several technique videos on inlay die cutting, an idea popped into my brain for making this technique a whole lot easier.  I made a video to show you how you too can take those intricate dies and easily piece them back together to create those wow factor projects.

Mojo Monday 414- Thankful Forest Friends

Hello strangers!  I apologize I have not blogged or posted any videos in a couple weeks.  It has been crazy here in the Velasquez household with birthdays, out of town trips, the stomach flu, and a huge remodeling.  My head is spinning but I have missed paper crafting and had to get some stamping in over the holiday weekend or BUST!

Can you believe I also missed blogging about the release of the new holiday catalog?!?!  Well the card I created for this week's Mojo Monday challenge uses one of my favorite stamp sets from the holiday catalog - Thankful Forest Friends.  This stamp set has some of the cutest critters and I have been itching to get creating with this set.

This card features not only the new stamp set but new coordinating DSP called Into The Woods.

I tried a technique I learned at SU convention for applying glitter to cards and I'm on the fence about how it turned out.  I think I might have got a little crazy with the glitter but that's what happens when you don't stamp for a couple weeks.  GLITTER EXPLOSION!

What do you think?  Too much glitter or are you more of the type where there is never enough glitter?

The new holiday catalog launched on September 1st and I'm you have your very own copy??  If not, I'd love to be your demonstrator and send you this amazing catalog.  Send me an email with your address and information so I can get one of these babies out to you ASAP.
