Happy Birthday Balloon Card

Hi Stampers!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Santa brought you all the crafting goodies on your list.  We had a lovely time at the beach just relaxing and enjoying the warm weather. It was nice to get away and clear the mind to get ready for a new year.  I did some watercoloring while at the beach and hope to finish up the cards to put on my blog over the next few days.

I had to get right to creating cards once we got back since we have another birthday this week.  My father in law and husband have the same birthdays and we usually go out to dinner together to celebrate.  I created my husband's card before we left for the beach but had to get another made for my father in law quickly since we are having dinner tomorrow evening.

It is my father in law's 85th birthday so I wanted to create something that was a little extra special.  In the upcoming SU Occasions catalog that will be live next week, there are some adorable honeycomb embellishments that gave me the idea for the balloon on the card.

To create the 3D balloon, I cut out 4 balloons from retired In Color DSP using the balloon framelits.  I folded each balloon in half and glued one half of one balloon to the next using all 4 cutouts.  The cloud DSP I used as my background is another wonderful piece of retired paper.  I hoard paper and sometimes you just have to use it.

I layered the cloud DSP onto some hello honey cardstock which coordinates with the hello honey In Color DSP that I used for the balloon.  The card base is made from crumb cake.  I stamped the sentiment and balloon basket in our basic black archival ink.  I just love that ink!  The sentiment was fussy cut and popped up with dimensionals.

Be sure to keep checking back to my blog as I finally placed my pre-order for the Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogs and hope to get my order soon.  I plan to do a video showing all the goodies I ordered...which was A LOT!

If you would like a copy of the new catalogs, send me an email and I'll get one out to you.

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!
