Quick update - video series

Hi there stampers!  Well I have some bad and good news.  Let's start with the bad...I ran into some technical difficulties with my video for yesterday's Manic Monday video series.  The good news, for me at least, is that I also leave today for a trip to Italy.  The bad news again is that I will not be able to get videos up for 2 weeks because of the technical issues and my trip.

I am so very sorry about this and promise to make it up to you...how about a giveaway when I get back?!?!?  So don't give up on me and be sure to check back here starting in February for more videos and as promised, a giveaway.

Thanks for understanding and happy stamping!  Stamp some for me since I won't be able to do any crafting for a couple weeks!

Watercolor Rose Wonder

Hi there stampers!  Today's card features the beautiful new stamp set from the 2016 Occasions Catalog called Rose Wonder.  The rose stamp in this set is gorgeous and HUGE!  It gives tons of space to create some gorgeous watercoloring effects.  There are also matching thinlits and you can get both in a bundle and save 15% right off the top!  You are going to want both, believe me.

I stamped the big rose with versamark ink onto some watercolor paper then heat embossed the image with white embossing powder.  I then watercolored the image using pool party, island indigo, night of navy, wild wasabi, and hello honey inks.  After looking at the piece for a few minutes, I decided it needed a wash of color all over the background so I watercolored this with smoky slate.  I made sure to add plenty of water to the ink so I got a very light wash of color on the background.

I stamped the birthday sentiment from the same stamp set in versamark and then heat set this with silver embossing powder.  I layered the watercolor piece with foam adhesive onto a cardbase of smoky slate cardstock.

I am trying to decide what card to do for my Manic Monday video this week.  I am working on another card that just knocked my socks off but thought this watercolor card might showcase how easy it is to create a watercolor piece.  Hmm, decisions, decisions!

Happy Friday and thanks for stopping by!

Sky Is the Limit Masculine Card

Hi stampers!  Today's card features a new stamp set from the Sale-a-bration catalog that you can get FREE with a qualifying $50 purchase.  This particular stamp set called Sky Is the Limit is only available until February 15th.  Stampin up is offering additional Sale-a-bration items for a limited time so if you want any of these special items, you will need to place an order before February 15th.

I just loved the airplane stamp in this set with the cute coordinating clouds.  I wanted to make a masculine card because I don't seem to make many of those.  I  stamped the airplane in tangelo twist and heat set it with clear embossing powder onto some thick whisper white cardstock.  I then stamped the heart shaped airplane stream/cloud (not sure what that is called) and clouds in versamark and heat set those with clear embossing powder as well.  I decided to try watercoloring with an aqua brush onto the whisper white cardstock as opposed to using watercolor paper.  I think it turned out nicely and didn't damage the paper.  It just gave a nice blue tint to the images which is exactly what I was going for.

I used my project life corner rounder to round opposite corners and layered this onto some pool party cardstock that I rounded the matching corners.  This was added onto a piece of DSP from the schoolhouse designer series paper pack.  I love the color combo of pool party and tangelo twist.

The hello sentiment is also from a Sale-a-bration stamp set called Honeycomb Happiness.  I thought a couple pops of black grounded the card nicely.

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!

Manic Monday Video Series Launch - Episode #1

Hi there stampers!  I am very excited to announce the launch of my new video series called "Manic Monday Card Series"!  Each Monday I will feature a new video and project that you can make in 15 minutes or less.  I set a goal for myself to put more time and effort into my stamping business this year.  I love to stamp and love to share that passion with anyone who will listen.  I also really enjoy making cards for people including loved ones and even strangers.  I really want to get better at making videos so I thought what better way to push myself to learn than to make more videos.

So I hope you will join me in this video journey by heading over to my YouTube channel and subscribing.

Today's Manic Monday card features the technique of using white pigment ink and stamping a layer on top of stamped images to give those images a halo look.  I'm sure this technique has a name but I'm not sure what it is called.

To learn how to do this technique, check out my video below:

Mojo Monday 429 - cutting the deadline close

Hi Stampers!  I am barely making this card into the challenge over at Monday Mojo weekly card challenge.  I did some stamping earlier today and forgot to take pictures to post onto the challenge because I got distracted by FOOTBALL!  It is playoff time and my team is going all the way...I believe, I believe.

Today's card features this sweet little bird from the stamp set Honeycomb Happiness which is part of the sale-a-bartion catalog and you can get this stamp set free.  Yes, I said FREE!!  During sale-a-oration you can pick a free item from the sale-a-bration catalog for every $50 US dollars spent (before tax and shipping costs).  It is such a great time to order and join Stampin Up!  I actually joined SU last year during this time and have had a blast ever since.

I watercolored the sweet little bird on some shimmer white cardstock using hello honey, old olive, and lost lagoon inks.  How sweet is this little bird though really?!?!  You would not believe how easy it was to watercolor this image and I'll be featuring a video on how to make this card in a future Manic Monday video card series.  So if you want more info, be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel and watch all the videos I have planned for my new video series I'll be kicking off tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!

More Watercolor Birthday Cards

Happy Friday stampers!  I have another watercolored piece using the same concept as another card I made during my beach holiday over Christmas.

I stamped the flower image from the stamp set Remarkable You randomly using SU archival black ink onto a piece of watercolor paper that measured 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.  The archival black ink is great for watercoloring as the ink doesn't bleed or fade using water or inks.  I watercolored each flower with hello honey and mossy meadow inks.  I started by applying a light layer of the color using ink that I added quite a bit of water to in order to make the color less intense.  I added layers of the same color that I had mixed with less water to give the deeper shades.

The background blue color was done with lost lagoon ink.  I cut the finished piece to 4 x 5 1/4 and layered this on a piece of lost lagoon cardstock.  I added a strip of vellum with the birthday sentiment heat embossed in white before applying to the card base with foam adhesive.

I am really loving how these cards turn out and surprised how easily the watercoloring comes along the more I make these type of cards.  The last card I embossed the flower images in white, but with this card using black archival ink worked just as beautifully, don't you think?  You can check out the similar card I made in this post a couple weeks ago.

I hope everyone has fun plans for the weekend.  It looks like dreary weather here which will make it easy to spend the much needed time in my craft room prepping for my new video series that comes out Monday!

Happy Stamping!

Gold heat embossing with watercoloring

Hi there stampers!  Today's card features heat embossed flowers in gold with watercoloring.  I took the flower spray from the stamp set Timeless Love and created a wreath by stamping the image in a circle pattern onto some watercolor paper with versamark ink.  I heat embossed the flowers in gold and then proceeded to watercolor the images with blushing bride, rose red, perfect plum, wisteria wonder, crushed curry, and mint macaron inks.

How I watercolor using my SU stamp pads is pretty simple.  I push the stamp pads onto a craft sheet to transfer some of the ink from the stamp pad to the craft sheet.  I then add water to the inks and the amount of water depends on how intense I want the color to be.  I then pick up color with a watercolor brush and apply to my image on watercolor paper.  Clean up is simple as you just wipe the craft sheet with wet and dry paper towels to remove all the remaining inks.

I finished the card by cutting the watercolored image out with the circles collection framelits.  I also cut a piece of whisper white with the next size circle and heat embossed the edges of that circle with the same gold embossing powder to get the matching gold layer.  The circle was added to a card front made from an A2 cardbase of the thick whisper white cardstock layered with a blushing bride piece that had been embossed with the Lovely Lace embossing folder.

The sentiment across the circle is from the stamp set Cottage Greetings and this was heat embossed in gold on some vellum which was layered on a piece of blushing bride.

Some big things will be coming to my blog this month.  First, I am working with a designer to give my blog some much needed improvements and makeover.  I can't wait to see what the designer comes up with and hopefully my blog will be more appealing to all you wonderful creative people out there.

Secondly, I am working on a new video series called Manic Mondays.  This video series will consist of a new video and card every Monday that features a project that you can do in less than 15 minutes.  I plan to have giveaways and fun things throughout this video series so I hope you will join me by heading over to my YouTube channel and following me there - YouTube.

Thanks for stopping by today and happy stamping!

Hello Shaker Cards

Happy New Year stampers!!  I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful new year celebration.  We went to a super fun party and enjoyed bringing in 2016 with some of our favorite friends.  I'll have to admit I had a bit of a champagne headache yesterday so was lazy and did not get into the stamp room. I got some time to stamp today since my husband is out riding his motorcycle with a friend.

For today's project I wanted to make a shaker card as those are all the rage right now and I don't seem to make many, if not any at all.  I am by no means a shaker card expert so my original plan did not work but I'm ok with how the final project ended up looking.  This is actually a pretty simple card to make after I realized my first idea wasn't going to work.

I absolutely adore this designer series paper from the holiday catalog called Into the Woods.  It is on sale right now so you better go stock up before it's gone.  (3 days until the new Occasions Catalog!!! EEEKKK!!!)  I used the circle collection framelits to cut the shaker circle out of tangelo twist and the DSP.  I cut out the hello sentiment from the greetings thinlits in tangelo twist as well and layered that between the DSP and tangelo twist cardstock.

When I make shaker cards, I use fun foam to give a uniform solid support to the shaker piece instead of using dimensionals to create the shape where the sequins will be.  Confused?  Yeah, I wasnt sure how to explain that in words so hopefully you get what I'm saying.  Behind the tangelo twist layer is a piece of fun foam cut a little smaller with the same size circle cut out.  After adding the sequins, I glued that onto a piece of thick whisper white card base.  I stamped the acorn using the Acorny Thank You stamp set with corresponding punch.

It looks like I'll be getting my Occasions Catalog order this Thursday so stay tuned for a video showcasing all the amazing goodies I ordered.  I can't wait to start playing with them!!  So excited!

Happy stamping!
