Watercolor Heart Background Valentine's Day Card

Hi there stampers!  For today's card I made my own background with the smallest heart die from the SU Heart Framelits Collection.  I traced with a pencil the heart die randomly all over a piece of watercolor paper then watercolored the hearts with distress inks - seedless preserves and barn door.

After watercoloring all the hearts, I added ink splatters of the same colors to the piece.  I then applied the same ink colors to the flowered heart image from the stamp set Bloomin' Love from the Occasions Catalog and spritzed this with some water before stamping onto a scrap of watercolor paper.  I fussy cut the heart out and adhered it to the gold metallic foil doily.  I then stamped the banner and XOXO sentiment in versamark ink and heat embossed in gold.  I used the coordinating die from the Large Numbers Framelits to cut out the banner and adhered this using foam adhesive.

To achieve the seedless preserves mat, I did the direct ink pad to paper technique around the edges of a piece of whisper white.  This was all adhered to a card base of the thick whisper white to finish up the card.

In case you missed it, Monday I released another video in my Manic Monday series and have a giveaway!  Head over to my blog post here for into on the giveaway and to watch the video.

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!
