Birthday Blooms and Metallic Colored Pencils

Happy Friday stampers!  Don't you love when you find craft supplies you forgot you had?!?!  So I was digging through my bins of supplies a couple weeks ago and found this package of metallic colored pencils from Stampin Up that had to be over 10 years old.  It looked like I may not have ever used them either so I was especially excited to find something so awesome I forgot I had.  I knew immediately what I wanted to try first with them and that was coloring on black cardstock.
I stamped the flower image from the Birthday Blooms stamp set that is in the Occasions Catalog in white craft ink on a piece of basic black cardstock.  I then colored in the flowers and leaves with the various colors of metallic pencils that were in the set.  The more I colored, the more I fell in love with this card.  The metallic pencils shine on the black cardstock and look so beautiful.  The pictures do not do this justice.  I wanted to keep the rest of the card simply in order to keep the focus on the colored images so I cut out the hello sentiment from wisteria wonder cardstock using the Greeting Thinlits.  I added a layer of shimmer to the sentiment with the Wink of Stella glitter pen.  I layered this with foam adhesive onto a basic black card base.

I wish you could see the shine in the photos.  I think I could have done without the hello sentiment as well and just kept the focus totally on the coloring.  What are your plans for the weekend?  I hope to get some stamping done and then I am running a half marathon on Sunday.  Thanks for stopping by!
