Rainbow Butterfly Hello

Happy Sunday stampers!  I can't believe the weekend is almost at an end but it sure is a beautiful day out there.  It has cooled off but the sun is warm and gorgeous.  We worked in the yard yesterday and plan to finish up a few things today including creating my succulent garden that I am so excited about.
For today's card I wanted to create a rainbow effect.  Rainbows are very trendy in the card making world right now and I don't seem to ever incorporate those into my creations so I challenged myself to make one.  I wanted to use butterflies to create the rainbow color effect so I pulled out my Watercolor Wings stamp set which has not gotten much love lately.  I used the smaller butterfly to stamp the various colors on the front of the card and used some masking to layer the butterflies on top of each other.

After stamping all the butterflies, I added some ink splatters in the same color inks using a paint brush.  I added the black centers of the butterflies but felt like they still needed something extra.  I decided to outline various parts of the butterfly using a Micron Pen size 08 and I think this added a lot to the card.  I then layered this onto a piece of basic black cardstock which was then added to a card base made from thick whisper white.  I cut out the hello sentiment in basic black using the Greetings Thinlits Dies.

I do love the rainbow look so I will have to create some more cards with this cheery color palate.  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I love this card idea! I recreated it yesterday using Peakaboo Peach, Emerald Envy, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red, Perfect Plum, Melon Mambo, and Tangerine Tango. I also used Pear Pizzazz to stamp a light boarder around the card, using the dots in the Watercolour Wings set. Thanks for the great idea!
