I decided to take this design challenge and create a landscape oriented card which suited the butterfly I wanted to incorporate into the card for the circle shape. That is what is great about these challenges, you can make them your own by changing the shape of the focus point or the arrangement.
I stared with a whisper white card base that I layered the piece of old olive striped DSP from the Sale-a-bration catalog called Wildflower Fields. I have 2 packets of this DSP that I got free during Sale-a-bration so I decided to try to use some in my cards. I also wanted to use a stamp set that has not gotten much love lately so I pulled out the hostess set Floral Wings to create the butterfly. I wanted to create a card using some soon to be retired supplies along with some new goodies.
For the butterfly, I stamped the image using dapper denim, flirty flamingo, and old olive. I really like this color combo! I cut out the butterfly using the coordinating thinlits called Bold Butterflies. I then cut out a piece of the gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum in a two inch square and also cut out a three inch square of flirty flamingo. I ran the flirty flamingo piece through the big shot using the embossing folder Lovely Lace. I painted the edges with some Ranger Liquid Pearls in gold. I adhered all the pieces in the tilted design following the sketch from the challenge and popped the butterfly up using dimensionals. For the sentiment, I used one of the retiring Expressions Natural Elements. I added a few dots of the liquid pearls to the background and my card was finished.
I really love these new In Colors! Just a few more days until the new catalog goes live and the retiring products are no longer available. This is a great time to stock up on those items you love that will not be around come June 1st! These wood element sentiments are so fantastic I might have to get myself another packet. Thanks for stopping by!
