Vellum Heat Embossed Cards

Hi there stampers!  Did everyone have a nice Memorial Day holiday weekend?  We spent the weekend celebrating our one year anniversary at the beach and it was some much needed R&R.  The only downside, I got ZERO stamping done.  Oh well, we all need a break right?!?!
For today's card I am channeling inspiration from Jennifer McGuire and making vellum cards.  She is the expert at making amazing vellum creations and I decided to give it a try.  I did some heat embossing to create the floral focus images on the vellum and really like how the cards turned out.

To make the card, I cut a piece of vellum measuring 4 1/4 X 6 inches and scored the vellum at the 5 1/2 mark to give a half inch piece to adhere to the whisper white card base that was cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I stamped the flower images from the Love & Affection stamp set using the new In Colors onto the vellum.  After stamping each image, I added clear embossing powder and heat set the images.  Did you know that you can heat emboss using your everyday ink pads??  Well you sure can as long as the ink pad is juicy and the stamped image gives you a wet result that allows enough time to add embossing powder.

After stamping all the images using some masks here and there to get that layered image look, I added a die cut from the Swirly Scirbbles thinlits that I cut out of tip top taupe cardstock.  I added some gold thread and cut out the sentiment using the layered tags thinlits.  I was unsure whether I wanted the sentiment to be on whisper white or dapper denim cardstock but ultimately decided I liked the pop of blue color against the colors of the floral images.

I adhered the vellum piece to the whisper white card base using fast fuse to make sure the vellum would stay in place.  I added an additional die cut tag of the same size cut from whisper white on the backside of the vellum to hide the adhesive used on the front sentiment.

I created a video showing how I made this card.  You can watch it on YouTube HERE or below:
